Topic 1 Minimizing Real-World Gaps in Crisis Communication by Judy Analco, M.S., CEP

In the wake of highly publicized crises, there have been efforts to formalize Generally Accepted Practices, or GAPS, in crisis communication.  While commendable in theory, such consensus guidelines can fall short of real-world application.  Join us as we discuss their shortfalls and propose some interesting alternatives.

Judy Analco is Principal of EnviroKey, a risk communication firm specializing in the prevention and management of environmental and human health controversies.  Ms. Analco is a former industrial hygienist who has provided risk evaluation and control services to the private and public sectors.  She has > 20 years experience including infectious disease outbreak management for the cruise industry, large-scale indoor air quality/mold crises, and addressing a full range of occupational and public health hazards for industrial, pharmaceutical and municipal employers.  She has a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Delaware and masters degrees in environmental studies from the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard School of Public Health.

Jack is our only CPAC member who is also an IABTI (International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators) member.  Hopefully, none of us will never come in contact with a possible explosive device.
